Toen ik in Uganda één meisje iets te eten gaf, ging zij dit niet in een hoekje alleen opeten, maar zij rende naar haar broertjes en zusjes om het samen te delen, ondanks dat ik zeker wist dat het meisje heel veel honger had. Dat is Ubuntu. "Hoe kan een van ons blij zijn met eten als alle anderen hongerig en verdrietig zijn."
Ubuntu is een Afrikaanse filosofie die gaat over de essentie van het mens-zijn. Ubuntu gaat vooral over het feit dat je als mens niet geïsoleerd kunt bestaan. Het gaat over onze onderlinge verbondenheid. Je kunt niet in je eentje mens zijn. Als je deze kwaliteit hebt – Ubuntu – sta je bekend om je vrijgevigheid.
Ubuntu betekent: "Ik ben, want wij zijn.”
Dus maak UBUNTU een van je goede voornemens, deel wat je hebt met anderen om je heen die het nodig hebben. Want geven en delen maakt gelukkig.
Geef ook een beetje UBUNTU aan Mother’s Heart Uganda,
dan maak je heel veel mensen blij en gelukkig.
